Program Director

The Human Services degree is designed for anyone wanting to go into one of the helping fields, such as counseling or social services. The program focuses on a generalist practice of human services and provides students a solid theoretical foundation while also preparing students for practice. The program has an international component focusing on international human rights violations and advocacy efforts. In addition, there is a focus on displaced and marginalized populations.

The quality of the program provides excellent preparation for the many students that go on to complete a MSW program with others going into MA programs in counseling, psychology, and forensic psychology. Most of the faculty are practicing in their field and have a passion for the success of their adult learners.

Do you feel called to help others? Are you sometimes frustrated because you can't do more? The Human Services program will give you the tools to work where you feel called to be. In the Human Services program you will learn about the history of the human services field, the theoretical base for many key intervention strategies, and how to work with various groups in need. There is a particular focus on cultural competence and social justice. So, if you have a heart for the hurting and aren't sure how to go about starting your new career helping those in need, this is the program for you!
