28 Months Beginning With Nine Credits
The Adult Undergraduate Program offered by Judson University met my needs both academically and spiritually. Incredibly, I was able to complete my degree in Management and Leadership in 28 months beginning with only nine credits. To accomplish this, I took advantage of the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) program that evaluated my life experiences to see if they would qualify to be documented as college credit. I received 30 credits based on this evaluation. I also utilized CLEP testing to demonstrate subject matter expertise and to obtain the majority of my general education credits, doing this, I received another 18 credits.
The majority of my studies were online with some face-to-face classes. Without the online option, I would not have been able to receive a degree without major revisions to my work schedule due to travel. Online classes provided me the opportunity to achieve this important personal objective.
Although I always felt that my formal education should have come earlier in life, my career and family obligations delayed my pursuit of a degree. Obtaining a degree was always a lifelong goal of mine, and it is great that at 55 I can cross this one off my list. Professionally, I believe my recent studies give me an understanding of the future of the workforce and the effects of globalization that many of my contemporaries do not have.
One of my primary reasons for selecting Judson was its commitment to offer a Christian perspective to my selected major of Management and Leadership. When it comes to ethics and morals in business, I only want one rule to guide my decisions and that is the “Golden Rule”. Prior to my studies, I had always tried to give back to my profession, company, and family what I learned in life. After completing my degree at Judson, I am even more committed to continuing to share my knowledge and ethics with each of these groups.
