Looking for a Serving Degree
I was not moving anywhere. Something was missing. I felt like I was not achieving my full potential. These thoughts and emotions caused me to start looking at finishing my degree, and specifically completing my degree in a serving discipline. I looked at a number of schools, but I was drawn to Judson because they were personal, Christian, and I felt “at home.” When I visited the Judson campus, it just clicked. The entire process was smooth and I met such wonderful people.
I knew this was the beginning of transitioning into a services-oriented career.
The Human Services degree was perfect. During my stay at Judson I made new friends and developed a closer relationship with the Lord. I knew this was the beginning of transitioning into a services-oriented career. I was elected Class President and was able to assist others with any concerns or problems they encountered. I loved helping other students. My Judson experience opened up a whole new world to me. In one sense, I was no longer a lost child. I felt like I was empowered to begin helping people.
I learned the knowledge and skill necessary to enter the services field, but I also learned to make a difference in other’s lives. One of my joys was being awarded the Judson Student Services Award. The successful completion of my degree and the school’s recognition of my work have allowed me to be a role model to my kids. I am not only encouraging them to pursue their education, I am an example that it can be done successfully.
My Judson experience has opened my eyes to a new world and the plan God has for me.
After graduating from Judson I went on to complete my Master’s in Counseling and anticipate being hired soon at a local human services agency. I am also planning on earning my Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), and fulfilling my desire to teach. I am very satisfied with my professional choice of pursuing my dream as a professional counselor. My Judson experience has opened my eyes to a new world and the plan God has for me.
