A Positve Experience
After earning my paralegal associate’s degree and working as a paralegal and technical trainer, I always had a desire to obtain my bachelor’s degree, but found it difficult to finish my degree because there were no adult-focused programs and life just got busy. Our family moved a few times in support of my husband’s career, but when we relocated to Illinois I found Judson and decided it was the perfect time to pursue a bachelor’s degree in technology management.
I was concerned that with my work commitment I would not have enough time to devote to my education and still have time for my husband and two kids.
I was leery about the accelerated format at Judson because I was commuting from Rockford to Chicago every day for my full-time job as a paralegal. I was concerned that with my work commitment I would not have enough time to devote to my education and still have time for my husband and two kids. But after taking the Becoming a Successful Student course, I was able to plan my time and readjust my thinking to include school as a priority in addition to my other commitments and responsibilities. I was already excited about going to school, but this course helped me create a plan for success. Of course, it helped that I had an extremely supportive husband and employer.
I chose the Management of Technology Systems (MTS) degree because of my strong interest in technology and my desire to manage and promote technology at work. My coworkers saw the degree as beneficial because it was focused on the end-user. Personally, the MTS degree just seemed to blend with my legal and technical training background. It was a perfect mix.
I was very satisfied with my choice of degree and university when I was offered my current position as a Program Analyst prior to my graduation. My new manager earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees as an adult learner and knew the commitment of time and energy it takes to do that.
I had a positive experience while a student at Judson primarily because of the relationships with my cohort members and instructors. I appreciated the ease of registration for each semester and that the books were provided to the students all at once at the beginning of the semester. I enjoyed the accelerated program which allowed me the opportunity to complete my degree in less than two years.
Not only did my experience at Judson encourage me to make a difference in my profession, but also in my personal life and community.
Not only did my experience at Judson encourage me to make a difference in my profession, but also in my personal life and community. Judson’s mission to encourage students to be active in a church and the community made me feel like God was trying to bring me back to church and worship on a regular basis. Now, my family regularly attends and volunteers at a local Rockford church.
